Journey to Bethlehem 2025 – a North Shore tradition

By Rosalind Russell – It’s been over 30 years since Beth and Mack Emiry of Massey had a dream to tell the Christmas story as a living interpretation of the “Journey to Bethlehem”.

According to the release, it began on their farm in Massey with folks being bused from town to walk the trail as a family travelling to Bethlehem.

The event now takes place on the Massey Fairgrounds and is set for December 6th and 7th from 6 pm to 9 pm with participants gathering at the Lutheran Church, boarding the bus to make their way to the fairgrounds.

Led by travel guides, the story unfolds as the public walks through taking about 30 minutes to complete.

Over the next half hour, participants meet and interact with soldiers, shepherds, angels, vendors, inn keepers, Mary and Joseph, the wise ones, Herod and of course, more soldiers!

Once done, the bus makes the return trip back to the church for hot chocolate and goodies.

For those who are unable to walk the trail, there will be a Care Van available. (Call 705 863 0311 to reserve a spot).

This is a free, family-friendly event, but donations are appreciated.
