By Rosalind Russell – Federal officials say progress is being made on support measures for Canada’s forest sector.
Along with $9 million in funding to promote the use of Canadian wood in construction, Ottawa announced the launch of an online single-window pathfinding service.
Officials say it will make it easier for forest sector businesses and employees to navigate and apply to federal programs.
A Canadian Forest Sector Transformation Task Force has also been created.
Starting early in the new year, the Task Force will seek input from stakeholders, governments, and others on how to restructure the forest sector to ensure it remains competitive over the long term.
