
By Rosalind Russell – Elliot Lake Mayor Andrew Wannan and Council have appointed Matthew Hough city’s new Chief Administrative Officer, effective March 16th.
Wannan says Hough brings over 25 years of senior executive leadership experience in complex public-sector and community-serving organizations across Canada.
He adds, most recently, Hough served as Assistant Deputy Minister of Infrastructure for the Government of Nunavut, where he was accountable for infrastructure planning, service delivery, and asset stewardship across 25 communities.
Wannan also thanked Rob deBortoli for his work as interim CAO while the recruitment process took place.
Hough’s career also includes executive leadership roles with the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, Indigenous organizations, and federal government departments, as well as extensive experience advising Boards, Councils, and senior elected officials.
He is a Civil Engineer by training and a graduate of the University of Alberta and has also completed executive leadership training through the Banff Centre for Management.
