TRAFFIC STOP FOR SPEEDING ON HIGHWAY 6 RESULTS IN SEIZURE OF SUSPECTED COCAINE

(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) – A driver is facing criminal charges after a traffic stop for speeding led to the discovery of suspected cocaine.

On Sunday, March 1, 2026, at approximately 10:15 p.m., an officer from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 6 in the Township of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands (NEMI). The officer observed a vehicle travelling 127 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone and conducted a traffic stop. As a result of the subsequent investigation, the driver was arrested.

Additionally, police seized a quantity of suspected cocaine.

The driver, Carlos DE LA ROSA ROYER, 25-years-old from Fort Erie, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Speeding 1-47 km/h over posted limit
  • Driver fail to surrender licence
  • Drive motor vehicle no permit

The driver is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
