Flood watches remain in place

By Rosalind Russell – With more rain on the way, flood watches in all three districts: Manitoulin, Algoma and Sudbury, are still in place.

Several Manitoulin Island municipalities have states of emergency in place, including the townships of Assiginack, Billings and Tekhummah, Gordon/Barrie Island and Central Manitoulin.

Weather forecasts indicate that heavier rainfall is expected over the weekend and the fluctuating temperatures will accelerate snowmelt and increase runoff across the watersheds.

There are also several road closures throughout our listening area.

Visit your local municipality’s on line sites for the latest information.
