Mindemoya Hospital remains temporarily closed due to flooding

By Rosalind Russell – The Manitoulin Health Centre advises that the Mindemoya Hospital, including the Emergency Department, remains temporarily closed under a Code Grey due to recent community flooding.
Officials say as the municipality continues its recovery, specific infrastructure and safety measures must be met before hospital services can safely resume.
While surface water is beginning to recede, sewer lines remain operating at over 100% capacity, which continues to impact essential services required for hospital operations. The Health Centre says it is working closely with municipal and community partners to monitor progress and assess when conditions will allow for a safe reopening.
The hospital closed last week due to the ongoing flood challenges.
