By Rosalind Russell – The Lancer Dome in Sudbury reopens today.
Rainbow District School Board business superintendent Adam Guibault says the dome, which collapsed following a major snow storm in late March re-opens for school and community use today.
He says the restoration was carried out under the guidance of the manufacturer and insurance adjuster with repairs done to the turf, dividing nets and cables replaced and new lights including emergency exit units installed.
The dome has three smaller soccer fields convertible to one large FIFA regulation soccer field and during school days and after school, is used for athletic and academic programs within the school board and community groups in the evenings, weekends and on school holidays.
In addition to soccer, the dome provides an ideal space for cricket, flag football, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, slo-pitch and dryland training.
