


By Rosalind Russell – Municipalities across the districts, including Espanola and Elliot Lake, have raised the Pride Flag in recognition of Pride Month.
Both municipalities made formal proclamations and raised the flags on Monday.
The Town of Espanola also painted a new crosswalk between Espanola High School and the complex, while Elliot Lake changed up its banner on its website as part of the campaign.
On Manitoulin Island, Mnaamodzawin Health Services Incorporated is hosting the PRIDE MANITOULIN’S 1K/5K Colour Run/Walk/Wheel event on Sunday, June 14th, starting at 10:30 am at the Northeastern Manitoulin & The Islands library in Little Current.
Pride Month is a time to celebrate diversity, recognize the contributions and resilience of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, and reaffirm the municipality’s commitment to building a community where everyone feels welcome, safe, and valued.
