By Rosalind Russell – Decoration Day will be held this weekend on Manitoulin Island.
Legion members, families, and supporters will gather for the annual Decoration Day on Manitoulin Island this Sunday, June 7.
There will be the laying of wreaths followed by a social gathering at Monument Corner in Spring Bay at 1 pm, at the Mindemoya Community Arena if it rains.
The day provides an opportunity to remember and honor the service of Canadian military personnel from past conflicts, including the Fenian Raids, the North-West Rebellion, the Second Boer War, and World War I and II.
