NOFCC enters into three-year partnership with Masonic Foundation of Ontario

By Rosalind Russell – The Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer has entered a three-year, $150,000 partnership with the Masonic Foundation of Ontario.

According to the release, the investment provides critical stability and ensures continuity of care for families who depend on NOFCC’s services including the creation of the Welcome Home Package.

The organization focuses on providing supports and financial assistance to families who have children fighting cancer and the package will give each family $1,000 each at the end of treatment or relapse program to help them transition back to the home environment.

Closer to home, the organization will be approaching Espanola Council to proclaim September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and to raise the flag acknowledging the commitment to the work carried out by the organization.

Locally, the Moose 99.3 FM CJJM will host the annual Heart of Gold Radiothon in September to raise funds, more so since there are several families that receive continued support within the Espanola, North Shore and Manitoulin Island area.

As an organization that receives no government funding, NOFCC relies entirely on the commitment of supporters and fundraisers to deliver 27 programs.

These programs provide essential financial relief and emotional support to families living within Ontario’s vast “P” postal code region who are navigating the profound challenges of childhood cancer.

NOFCC thanked several organizations for their support, including the Masonic Foundation of Ontario, Regional Canada Pageant, Moose 99.3 FM – CJJM – Espanola, Miners for Cancer, A-5 District Lion’s Club, John Carl MacIsaac Foundation, PEO, Sudbury Charities Foundation, Desjardins, Ontario Power Generation and UCDA.
