Unique partnership between police and military

By Rosalind Russell – The Anishinabek Police Service and Wounded Warriors Canada have signed a new partnership aimed at providing innovative mental health training and support services to Anishinabek Police Service members and their families.

Chief Jeff Skye, Anishinabek Police Service says supporting the health of our members as they navigate the unique demands of policing is one of the greatest investments we can make as an organization, adding she is grateful to partner with Wounded Warriors Canada to proactively meet the mental health and wellness needs of sworn and civilian members.

Through this partnership, Anishinabek Police Service will formally embed Wounded Warriors Canada as an additional layer of operational stress injury prevention and support for APS members and their families incorporating a blend of education, counselling, and training approaches, fostering resilience and aiding recovery from post-traumatic injuries.

Wounded Warriors Canada CEO, Scott Maxwell adds given the complexities of operational stress injuries and the level of traumatic event exposure faced by trauma exposed professionals so the partnership will strengthen their ability to support the psychological health and safety of those who keep First Nations communities safe.

Wounded Warriors Canada (WWC) is a national mental health service provider dedicated to serving trauma exposed organizations, trauma exposed professionals and their families.

WWC specializes in providing culturally informed services that utilize a combination of education, counselling, and training approaches to support resiliency and recovery from post-trauma injuries.
