47th annual LaCloche Art Show

By Grant Lewis – The 47th annual LaCloche Art Show is in the history books, and  what a show!!! Almost 300 exhibits  in various mediums were on display and for sale. Artists ages ranged from “mature” to Kindergarten. This year high school students submitted art work for competition. Judging from the quality and talent of these students, this art show is going to be around for a long time.  None of this would be possible without the hard work, organization, and dedication of  many volunteers.

This year the directors of the show decided to be part of the Lions Catch the Ace draw and sold tickets…a lot of tickets!!! The group shared in the “pot” and shared the winnings with three other groups.  On hand to receive  their share is Sue Miron, Chair of the Show.and on hand to present their share is Mike Dubreuil, Catch the Ace co- ordinator.  The almost $10,000 cheque includes a club donation of $1,500 to cover the door prize….a painting by the featured artist this year.

The money will be used to improve the Community Centre with special emphasis on hanging wall mounts to better display the excellent art work.

The power of volunteers never fails to amaze me! Well done!!
