Gore Bay long-term care facility being built at a record pace

By Rosalind Russell – Gore Bay’s major long-term care facility project is moving along slightly ahead of schedule.

According to the release, the work on the new St. Joseph’s Lodge of 64-beds is well underway.

Designed with several residential wings, the four-extensions will provide living quarters for residents hailing from Manitoulin Island and the North Shore.

The central area will house administration and common areas including kitchen facilities, entertainment and common rooms, specialized sauna and treatment spaces and more.

The $30-million dollar project is expected to be completed by mid-2027.
