By Rosalind Russell – The Espanola Regional Hospital & Health Centre recently held a flag-raising last week at the municipal office to mark August as International Drug Overdose Month.
According to the release, the former organizers, Linda Collins and Rosalind Russell, turned over the event to the institution and the Rapid Access Addiction Medicine Clinic, commonly known as RAAM, will now head up the annual event.
The annual walk and free barbecue is set for September 4th from 12:00 pm to 400 pm at the Red McCarthy Memorial Ballfields Pavilion.
Displays will be set up by various agencies that work with RAAM and the hospital to provide services to clients and their families, as well as stories shared by community members.
The wider community is invited to attend and meet at the pavilion to undertake the walk, followed by the barbecue and presentations.
Photos provided Espanola RAAM – Mayor Doug Gervais and some members of council will on site to raise the flag last Friday with members of the Espanola Regional Hospital & Health Centre and RAAM.
