By Rosalind Russell – Elliot Lake Special Olympian, 27-year-old Tyrina Cyr, is out on the track prepping for national games, which take place later this month.
The long-time athlete qualified for the Ontario team following competitions held in North Bay in 2024 and Brampton in June of last year.
She is one of six athletes who will compete in her division at the Special Olympic Games in Medicine Hat, Alberta, August 11th to 15th.
Cyr has been an Olympian for the last nine years, starting with bowling, but gained confidence and decided to run instead, and is now loving the 400 metres.
