A learning activity to initiate grade 9 students to careers in construction trades

By Rosalind Russell – Tomorrow is a big day for students at École secondaire catholique La Renaissance in Espanola.

Board communication officer Paul de la Riva says Grade 9 students will be taking part in the activity Explore Construction Trades throughout the day.

He says the activity is offered through the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program and will take place on the premises of the Carpenters’ Union in Azilda.

De la Riva adds the students will participate in a hands-on construction workshop gaining some carpentry, drywall and plastering experience so they can consider a career in construction.
