By Rosalind Russell – Provincial and federal economic policies are among the key topics at the third annual Anishinabek Nation Economic Development Opportunities Forum.
Officials will be discussing several key topics including Bill 5, the Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act and Ottawa’s Bill C-5 the One Canadian Economy Act – both of which received royal assent in June.
Anishinabek Nation Grand Council Chief Linda Debassige says the forum also provides an opportunity for member First Nations to connect directly with government and industry representatives, which may help foster a better understanding of their unique perspectives rooted in the Seven Grandfather Teachings and inherent rights.
The theme of the three-day event in Orillia, which is also being livestreamed on the Anishinabek Nation YouTube channel, is Empower, Evoke, and Evolve.
The forum will feature panels, workshops, keynote speakers, and more.
