Annuity compensation distribution now part of consultations

By Rosalind Russell – The Robinson Huron Litigation Management Committee says they are working out the parameters for distribution of a proposed annuity settlement.

According to the release, a proposed settlement of $10 billion with the Governments of Ontario and Canada was reached.

It states the settlement is not final and has not yet been signed, so the compensation has not been received at this time, adding there is some misinformation as to the deal, but the committee is the only entity that will provide the latest accurate information.

The committee states there will be information sessions and consultations within the respective communities as to distribution of the settlement.

It adds once the consultations are over, they will share more information about how and when the funds will be distributed amongst community members adding The Crown will continue to distribute $4 to beneficiaries until an agreement is reached on the increase of future annuities.

After the settlement for past compensation has been finalized, officials will begin negotiations that relate to future revenue sharing and annuities.
