Benefit jam session, bake sale and barbecue for family who lost family to fire

By Rosalind Russell – A Sables-Spanish Rivers Township family is receiving support from the wider community after losing their home to fire.

Fire department publicist Jillana Goodchild says on Saturday afternoon around 4 pm, fire fighters were called out to a residential fire on Lee Valley Road.

She says the family, Chris and Lilli Doughty and their children, were not home at the time, but their home was a complete loss with damage estimated at $550,000.

Goodchild adds the cause is still unknown.

The Lee Valley Autumn Leaves is hosting a fundraiser this Saturday afternoon at the Lee Valley Hall to assist the family.

The public is invited to come out, enjoy some music while helping one of their own.

Admission, and sales from the barbecue and bake sale will go to the family.
