Blind River council fills a vacancy

By Rosalind Russell – Blind River has finally filled a vacancy on its council.

The Town was short one candidate in the last election and put a call out for interested individuals to step forward if there was interest in filling the position.

Blind River Mayor Sally Hagman welcomed her council’s newest member, Katie Whitlock, to her first official council meeting on Monday night.

Hagaman explained that Whitlock was appointed at a special council meeting last week to fill the vacant seat to make up the full seven-seat roster.

Following her welcome and swearing in, Hagman also appointed Whitlock to several committees including protective services, corporate services, communications committee, budget committee, as well as the River Development Corporation and the library board.
