By Rosalind Russell – A municipal employee in Blind River has another portfolio to add to her resume.
Karen Bittner was appointed the town’s Community Emergency Management Coordinator by council last week adding to her portfolio as Director of Facilities and Community Services.
Council also appointed CAO-Clerk Katie Scott as backup coordinator.
Deputy Mayor Paula Summers says the town needs to have the position filled to deal with any potential emergency and how the emergency should be handled.
Bittner will update the council on a regular basis as part of overseeing a local emergency preparedness plan.
