By Rosalind Russell – Blind River Town Council has given its approval to purchase new breathing equipment for the local fire department.
Protective Services Director Ryan Belair told council they had received three bids to replace the equipment, which is to expire in February of next year.
He says the old equipment is archaic at it is and the firefighter’s safety must be a priority.
Council agreed to the purchase of Scott X3 Pro units from M & L Supply Fire & Safety at a cost of $157,915 plus applicable taxes.
Belair adds the new equipment also meets the national safety standards as set out in the guidelines for fire fighting.
