By Rosalind Russell – Some of Canada’s finest early childhood educators were honoured this month, and a Cambrian College professor helped select the winners.
The Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Early Childhood Education were presented earlier this month at a ceremony in Ottawa.
Emily Matheson from Cambrian’s Early Childhood Education program served as an evaluator for the awards.
She says being chosen as an evaluator for the awards and meeting her colleagues from across Canada was both an honour and inspiring, and one of the highlights of her 37-year career in Early Childhood Education.
She adds Prime Minister Trudeau spoke of the importance of ECE to the well-being of children.
Matheson is looking forward to again serving as a regional evaluator for next year’s awards.
Nominations for the 2024 Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Early Childhood Education can be submitted until January 11, 2024.
