By Rosalind Russell – A Winnipeg man is expected to arrive in the North Shore area within the next week or so depending on the speed of his walking and how many kilometres he covers.
Twenty-five-year-old Jackson Charron-Okerlund is walking across Canada in Terry Fox’s memory on a campaign he calls Coast to Coast for Cancer raising donations for cancer research.
He is on day 75 of his walk having left from Newfoundland on March 6th and is accompanied by a friend driving a van for sleeping and carrying supplies.
He says Terry Fox had every excuse in the book to tell himself ‘I can’t do this, but he didn’t listen to those voices, and he did it anyway.
He is expected in our local area within the next two weeks.
To follow Charron-Okerlund’s journey, follow his Facebook page under his name and he’s also on Instagram and Tik Tok. To donate to his cause, head to GoFundMe.com: Fundraiser by Jackson Okerlund : Cross Canada Marathon for Cancer Research (gofundme.com)
