COLLISION INVOLVING PARKED VEHICLE ON BARBER STREET RESULTS IN IMPAIRED ARREST

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person is facing impaired-related charges after a two-vehicle collision.

On Thursday, April 24, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a driver who had collided into a parked vehicle on Barber Street in Espanola. Police arrived on scene and observed signs that the driver had consumed an intoxicating substance. Further investigation resulted in the driver being arrested for impaired operation.

As a result, Peter DESJARDINS, 54-years-old from Espanola, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – drugs
  • Dangerous operation

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on June 2, 2025.
