Coverage for wildland firefighters

By Rosalind Russell – The province is expanding health coverage for wildland firefighters.
Officials say the Ontario government will soon be introducing legislation which will see wildland firefighters and investigators have the same W-S-I-B coverage for cancers, heart injuries, and PTDSD that municipal firefighters do. The province also says they’ll expand presumptive coverage to the fire fighters for skin cancer, and lower the service time required to receive compensation to 10 years… down from the current 15.
Last year 741 fires were active in Ontario’s forests… burning 440,000 hectares of land.
