Crime Prevention Week – community safety begins with you

By Rosalind Russell – Anishinabek Police Services, Ontario Provincial Police and municipal policing services are marking Ontario’s annual Crime Prevention Week, running from November second to the eighth.
Crime Prevention Week is supported by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
According to the release, this year’s focus is that community safety starts with you, the public, in sharing information, staying vigilant and watching out for each other.
Officials say crime prevention is everyone’s responsibility, noting it takes the combined efforts of police, community partners, businesses, and residents to protect neighbourhoods and businesses.
It can be as simple as reporting suspicious or criminal activity when you see it happen.
Local services will be talking to local groups and sharing their information as part of the week’s activities.
