CSC Nouvelon appoints Superintendent of Education

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon is proud to announce the appointment of Mélanie Vaillancourt as Superintendent of Education. An experienced leader, she stands out for her extensive background and experience in education. Ms. Vaillancourt will assume her new role starting on November 2, 2026.

Holding a Master of Education from the University of Ottawa, as well as a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Science from Laurentian University, Mélanie Vaillancourt began her career as a teacher with CSC Nouvelon in 2007. In addition to her extensive teaching experience, she has held several leadership positions, including principal at École Notre-Dame de la Merci (Coniston) and École catholique Félix-Ricard (Sudbury). Since August 2025, Ms. Vaillancourt has served as Superintendent of Education with Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord in North Bay.

Throughout her career, Ms. Vaillancourt collaborated on the development of innovative educational programs adapted to students’ needs within her schools, as well as participated in various working committees on issues such as safety practices and student recruitment and retention. Her understanding of the education sector in a language-minority context will enable her to play a strategic role within CSC Nouvelon.

In her new position, Mélanie Vaillancourt will support the schools under her supervision and contribute to implementing the Board’s strategic orientations. She will be responsible for projects related to community leadership, student, family and Catholic school council engagement, as well as professional development programs intended for school principals and vice-principals.

“We are delighted to welcome Ms. Vaillancourt to our administrative team. Her expertise, in-depth knowledge of the French-language Catholic school environment, and ongoing commitment to student success will be valuable assets for CSC Nouvelon,” said Mr. Tom Michaud, Director of Education at CSC Nouvelon. “With nearly 20 years of experience in education, we have full confidence in her ability to support our schools and contribute to achieving our educational mission,” he added.
