Discovering those who serve – Manitoulin hosting inaugural Community Safety Day

By Rosalind Russell – The Inaugural Community Safety Day is being held on Manitoulin Island to showcase the many available services.

Co-chair Kevin Spikes says first responders from across the Island will converge at the Northeastern & The Islands Community Centre in Little Current to meet the public.

He says that includes victims services, providers such as firefighters, police and paramedics, as well as special visitors including the Canadian Armed Forces, Crime Stoppers and various ministry representatives.

He adds there will also be displays available, a truck zone and demonstrations.

Spikes adds admission is free but non-perishable items for the food bank would be much appreciated.

The community event is set for Saturday, June 6th from 10 am to 4 pm.
