By Rosalind Russell – To close Catholic Education Week last week, an Elliot Lake school unveiled a new mural to celebrate the city.
Education superintendent, Julie Chenard Azzi says the mural at École catholique Georges Vanier pays tribute to the Ste. Bernadette Parish, Rogers Arena, St. Joseph’s General Hospital, the fire lookout tower, as well as the school’s mascot, Hector the beaver.
She adds the project contributes to the well-being being of students and staff by strengthening their sense of belonging and showcasing their collective pride for their community.
