Espanola Council proclaims May as Community Living Month – flag raising set for May 1st

By Rosalind Russell – May is Community Living Month, an annual celebration of the contributions of people who have an intellectual disability and their families.

Espanola Mayor Doug Gervais and the Council formally announced the proclamation this week in support of Community Living and its Espanola branch to help spread awareness, and they encourage all citizens to mark the month.

Community Living Ontario is encouraging landmarks across the province, like Toronto’s CN Tower, to Shine a Light on Community Living by lighting up in blue and green on May 1.

The local branch is inviting all businesses and community members to do the same.

Mayor and Council will be on hand for the flag-raising at the Espanola Town Hall at 11:00 am May 1st and the public is invited to attend.
