By Rosalind Russell – The Espanola Children’s Winter Fishing Derby is set to go on Monday.
Families can take in Family Day out at the Anishinabe Spiritual Centre five minutes south of Espanola on Lake Anderson.
Registration is at 10 am, the derby starts at 11 am, and the winners announced at 2 pm,
Espanola Mayor Douglas Gervais and members of council will do the presentations to the winners.
The event is endorsed by the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, with supports from the Espanola Game and Fish Club, the Espanola Elks and the official sponsor, Fishy Fishy Bang Bang.
It is also a free family fishing weekend across the province, so no licencing required, but the regulations must be followed.
The Moose 99.3 FM CJJM – Espanola is proud to be the host for the event.
