Feds invest $1 million for Z’gamok Construction of Massey

By Rosalind Russell – Federal funding will help an Indigenous-owned business capitalize on opportunities within Northern Ontario’s mining industry

Sudbury MP Viviane Lapointe announced a $1 million investment by the Government of Canada Friday for the purchase of 10 heavy trucks for Z’gamok Construction LP, a First Nation owned company based out of Sagamok-Anishnawbek First Nation.

The announcement was made on behalf of Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor, and is expected to create 10 or more full-time jobs.

Victoria Mine is under construction and the new haulage trucks will provide Z’gamok with the capacity to qualify for major haulage contracts and help position the company to support its expanding role at Vale’s Totten mine.
