Feedback sought on arena fate in Elliot Lake

By Rosalind Russell – The City of Elliot Lake is looking for public input on what should be done about the Centennial Arena.

Acting Mayor Andrew Wannan says the city had no choice but to shut down the complex after inspecting engineers found issues with the building, especially leaking which was affecting the wooden trusses.

He says council is seeking input from the public once the analysis of the condition of the arena is completed in the next seven to 10 days.

He says they anticipate the public session will take place one evening either the weeks of either September 18th or September 25th.

Wannan says attendees are asked to come prepared with questions, and feedback ensuring the opinions of community stakeholders are heard.
