By Rosalind Russell – A shop vac caused a fire on Wednesday afternoon at Espanola High School leading to a fire drill and evacuation of both the high school and AB Ellis Public School.
Fire Chief Mike Pichor says a shop vac caught on fire but no one was hurt in the evacuation.
He says it was a small fire but there was heavy smoke damage, so firefighters were on the scene for several hours venting the space.
He adds insurance will assess the smoke damage.
