First case of Lyme disease in Sudbury-Manitoulin

By Rosalind Russell – Public Health Sudbury & District says a resident has tested positive for Lyme disease.

Officials say it is the first locally acquired human case reported to the agency this year.

They add Lyme disease occurs when a person is bit by a tick carrying the Lyme disease bacterium.

The health unit is reminding everyone to check for ticks immediately after activities like gardening or hiking.
