FONOM includes local representation

By Rosalind Russell – More than 250 municipal leaders from across the north are in North Bay this week (May 5-7) for the annual Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities conference (FONOM).
Officials say this year’s theme is “The Next 100 Years” and pays tribute to North Bay’s upcoming centennial in 2025 looking ahead to the future of Northern Ontario.
FONOM says workshops and sessions will also be taking place, focused on high-impact regional issues like power generation and transmission, northern highway safety, and homelessness in the Northeast.
Updates from the province will also be part of the conference, with seven members of Premier Doug Ford’s cabinet taking part.
North Bay Mayor Peter Chirico says the conference is a unique opportunity for officials and staff across the north east to share insights and address common challenges … all while driving regional progress.
