By Rosalind Russell – Community Food Centres Canada says 8.7 million people in this country face the daily challenge of food insecurity – with 3.8 million living in poverty.
The group has launched a new online tool giving communities localized data.
Officials say the idea of “Food Security Now” is to empower people, policymakers and others to advocate effectively for targeted solutions and work together to reduce food insecurity and poverty. They say knowledge is power, and when communities have access to localized data, they can better advocate for change.
