By Rosalind Russell – With about 45 Registered Dietician positions currently unfilled across the north, the Northern Ontario School of Medicine is celebrating the achievements of six new dietetics graduates.
A ceremony was held on Friday.
The grads are from NOSM University’s Dietetic Practicum Program, which officials say is highly effective at addressing the human resource needs within the field in Northern Ontario.
Since the program’s creation 19 years ago, more than 50% of graduates have remained in the region.
The university says these newest alumni will also help fill these gaps, with the majority staying to practise in the North.
