By Rosalind Russell – A federal NDP leadership candidate spent the last two days in Sudbury, speaking to party members and the public on a variety of issues, including homelessness.
Heather McPherson tells Moose FM the round table discussion on the issue shows how horrific the crisis is, and the need for the feds to proclaim a crisis in Canada, not only for the working class, but especially those who face mental and physical challenges preventing them from finding long-term housing.
She also supports a move to have long-term facilities considered for other people, besides seniors, including those with physical and mental challenges.
McPherson returned to Ottawa today where she will continue her campaign for the leadership role.
Next March, the NDP will hold a leadership election to choose a permanent leader to replace Don Davies, who became leader on an interim basis following the resignation of Jagmeet Singh.
