It is Maple Syrup Time

By Rosalind Russell – Espanola High School students got to experience a Spring tradition.

Students learned the process of harvesting maple sap and producing fresh maple syrup.

They also learned why the syrup is considered liquid gold with Canada being one of the largest exporters in the world of the sweet liquid.

Students were astonished to find out you need 40 litres of sap to produce one litre of syrup.

Student Carter Graham also took the opportunity to teach the class how to make maple candies using syrup that his family produced at their sugar shack.
