By Rosalind Russell – Kielyn Marrone, who hails from the Espanola area, an Arctic survivalist, local adventure guide and finalist of the History Channel’s reality show 2020 edition, Alone, opened the SOAR Film Festival at the Sudbury Indie Cinema last night.
Kielyn shared her many adventures she and her husband Dave have had over the years to the audience and announced their immediate plans for the future.
After much reflection and dreams about what the future holds, they have decided that next winter they will be taking a sabbatical.
They say this will be a pause to reflect, rest and explore new directions for both of them, and their adventure business, Lure of the North.
Between the time taken to train and then opening the business 16 years ago, the two have spent most of their adult lives out on the trails, so staying closer to home and relaxing is in the future for now.
As for the film festival, Kielyn appreciated the opportunity to share her adventures and encouraging people to explore the beautiful world we call Earth in all four seasons.
The festival will feature 25 different films featuring outdoor adventures, fabulous photography and more over the remaining three days.

A highlight was to chat with Kielyn Marrone, also from the Espanola area, about her adventures. They are looking forward to enjoying the rest of the festival. Photo provided
