By Rosalind Russell – Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Bill Rosenberg visited Blind River and the Municipality of Huron Shores to present funding for local water works funding.
He says the Ontario government is investing just over $1.5 million to construct and improve water infrastructure in the Municipality of Huron Shores.
Mayor Jane Armstrong says the funds will be used for road infrastructure improvements at multiple locations including culvert replacements and related drainage improvements to address aging infrastructure.
Rosenberg also presented Blind River council with funding for just over $7.4 million to rehabilitate and expand the Town of Blind River’s Wastewater Treatment Facility.
Mayor Sally Hagman says the investment will allow the community to modernize, develop, and grow its infrastructure and housing as a result of the improvements.
The Ontario government is also providing the Township of Nairn and Hyman with up to $90,000 in disaster recovery funding to help cover emergency response costs and critical infrastructure repairs due to flooding that occurred in July 2025.
