Amara Wilson-Zegil of Manitoulin Secondary School will join hundreds of secondary students from across Canada to explore the world of STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math, and Entrepreneurship this summer.
Rainbow District School Board Chief Executive Officer Bruce Bourget says Shad provides students with learning and opportunities to make valuable connections, strengthens skills in discovery, teamwork and creativity while preparing them for post-secondary education.
Founded in 1981, Shad has grown into the nation’s longest-running STEAM + entrepreneurship program, delivered in partnership with now more than 30 leading post-secondary institutions across the country.
Wilson-Zegil is a Grade 11 student and has been heavily involved in the robotics competitions, having captained the team last year and won the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology Award) competing at the international level.
Bourget also extended congratulations to Shivani Iyer of Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School in Sudbury who has also been selected to attend the summer Shad session.
