Manitoulin – Sudbury DSAB responding to water situation at senior residence in Webbwood

By Rosalind Russell – The operating authority for the well system at C. A. MacMillian Place in Webbwood has advised the building’s UV water treatment system has experienced ongoing mechanical issues over the past month.

According to a release from local social services, the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) says while one unit was temporarily able to maintain disinfection, the system has not been fully reliable, and both UV units are now offline.

Public Health and the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks have been notified and have issued a Boil Water Advisory due to the lack of active disinfection.

Replacement parts have been ordered, with installation planned for April 22.

The team also attended the site on April 17 to speak with tenants and answer any questions they may have.

Bottled water has been and will continue to be provided to all tenants until the situation is resolved and a Boil Water Advisory Fact Sheet from Public Health was also provided to all tenants.

They are encouraging tenants to continue to contact the office should they have any further questions.
