By Rosalind Russell – It is National Indigenous Day across Canada and communities will mark the day in a variety of ways.
In Espanola, Summer Solstice and Indigenous People’s Day will be celebrated at the Espanola Regional Recreation Complex today.
There will be special guests from AB Ellis Public School with an opening ceremony to mark the start of Summer Solstice at ten today.
The day’s activities, organized by Noojmowin Teg in partnership with the Town of Espanola will include paint sessions, and various crafts, such as fish leather making, archery and information booths.
Traditional Knowledge Keeper, Josh Eshkawkogan will also be available for one-on-one blessings.
