New national partnership with Europe

By Rosalind Russell – Prime Minister Mark Carney is calling it a historic step forward for Canada’s relationship with the European Union.

Yesterday, a new partnership with the E-U was signed and the Prime Minister’s office says it is rooted in shared values and the rules-based international system.

Officials say Canada and the E-U will soon launch negotiations across multiple areas to strengthen co-operation and connection – including trade, economic security, the fight against climate change and more.

Carney says our country’s new government has a mandate to diversify and strengthen international partnerships, and through increased co-operation in defence, trade, and commerce…  they’ll create greater prosperity, security, and stability on both sides of the Atlantic.
