OPP ARREST ONE PERSON AND MULTIPLE CHARGES LAID

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged with multiple offences following a report of a theft on Albert Street in Espanola.

 

On November 29, 2023, shortly after 3:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call regarding the theft of mail. Police were directed to a compound where the suspect was last seen. Police searched an outbuilding that was on the property and located the individual inside.

 

As a result of the investigation, Jordan LAMOTHE, 33-years-old from Espanola was charged with:

  • Mischief – renders property dangerous, useless, inoperative or ineffective
  • Theft from mail – sent by post (two counts)
  • Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – opioid (other than heroin)

 

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on January 15, 2024.
