OPP CHARGE DRIVER WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING ON HIGHWAY 6

(NORTHEASTERN MANITOULIN AND THE ISLANDS, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged with impaired driving following a traffic complaint on Highway 6.

 

On December 6, 2023, shortly after 10:00 a.m., members of the Manitoulin Detachment of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of an erratic driver traveling southbound on Highway 6.

 

Police located the vehicle and upon speaking with the driver, police were able to determine that the driver was impaired. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported back to the OPP detachment for further testing.

 

As a result of the investigation, Sean THOMPSON, 48-years-old from Espanola has been charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

 

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on January 9, 2024.

 

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
