OPP grieving loss of officer

By Rosalind Russell – The Ontario Provincial Police is mourning the loss of one of their own after an officer died in the line of duty. 

The OPP says shortly after 530 yesterday evening (Mon), officers with the Northumberland detachment responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Highway 401 near Cobourg. 

A member of the OPP was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The officer has been identified as Sergeant Brandon Malcolm, who joined the OPP in June 2020, and was a member of the Golden Helmets precision motorcycle team.

The investigation is ongoing.
